Sequins are disk-shaped beads used for decorative purposes. Originally made of coins, modern sequins tend to be made of plastic. They may also be referred to as spangles, paillettes (large and flat), or diamantes. They can be stitched flat to the fabric, or they may be stitched at only one point (dangles and moves, catching more light). Some are made with facets, increasing their reflective ability.
